BIM Methodology


BIM is a work methodology, supported by different specialized software for the development and management of projects, which lets us design, project, organize and manage the digital construction of the work by integrating all the information in a parametrized model, which is complete, unique and centralized and which is shared by all the agents that will take part throughout the complete life cycle of a building, infrastructure, etc.


We have a team of topographers specialized in laser scanning and Point Cloud processing. Once the intended use of the BIM Model is defined and the available information for the survey is analysed, we define the geometric level of detail and the required information according to the nature of the elements that have to be modelled. Next, we design a productive strategy to satisfy the casuistry and/or the levels of uncertainty that have been found.


As an engineering company, we design and calculate multidisciplinary projects in BIM. The resulting models have a level of information and an internal standardized data structure for each stage of the life cycle of a project, which optimises its linking to different software such as calculation, budget and planning or facility management. We have automatized modelling and quality control systems that guarantee the coherence of the built information.


We integrate all the disciplines of the project in a single Federated Model. We audit the structure of the data information and carry out interference detections according to a collision matrix previously designed. We report those interferences in groups, categorised according to their severity and/or level of responsibility.


We model and codify the elements of the BIM Model according to the entries, measurement units and base budget structure. Regardless the modelling software a specific project requires, we group all its measurements in a single database that can be consulted and/or organised as required. We have solutions for the most common budgeting software in the market.  


With the aim of optimising the decision-making process of our clients and of improving the presentation of the projects, our programmers create ad hoc applications that enable interacting with the model just as they would do in real life, analysing, simulating and driving. And, therefore, interacting with the geometry, the materials and the objects and naturally enabling changes and feedback at real time.


We link the planning of the work to the BIM model with the aim of checking and/or optimising the said planning. During the process, we detect both modelled elements that have not been planned and planned elements that have not been modelled and are strategically relevant. It is a highly requested service for complex works and/or large-scale works that require a detailed risk control in terms of time/money.


During the supervision of the works, we execute periodical Cloud Point Surveys to record the work progress. Later on, we compare this “static clouds” with the BIM Model to see the differences and gradually start generating the “As-Built” model. The visualization of the said model represents a major support both for construction companies in order to create reports to certify and for Project Managers and final customers who want to audit the work of the winning construction company.  


We develop customized CDEs (Common Data Environment) according to the needs of each Project/Client. We use our own folder structure inspired by the British Standard PAS 1192, adapted to the peculiarities of the country where we are working. With regards to the information flows, we define simple communication and collaboration protocols for each project, which lets us reach the highest levels of traceability and transparency through open BIM formats.    


We develop Augmented Reality tools that let us superimpose virtual elements over our vision of reality and therefore complement the real environment with digital objects. Among other things, AR lets us, for example, view hidden installations (underground or ceiling installations) as well as their information parameters, which lets us optimise any action that has to be undertaken in that environment.


It is a BIM auditing tool by IDP. It is formed by interactive, customized dashboards (control panels) available for the Auditor/Customer that let evaluate the fulfilment of the previously established prescriptions, as well as visualize the “BIM quality standards” indicators and/or monitor the evolution of the measurements of a project in the design or construction stages. How do we work? We extract relevant data from the model we want to analyse and read them in a user-friendly way with a Business Intelligence, taking into account the desired user experience when consulting them. This lets us evaluate the relevant information without having to open any BIM Model.  


Beyond fulfilling the legal framework of each country with regards to the BIM, which is the reason why many companies request its implementation in their company, our mission as consultants is founded on overcoming most of the problems that derive from the traditional work methodology. We facilitate the transfer of information between the internal and external agents and, therefore, we seek to increase the efficiency in the use of human and instrumental resources.
