Eduard Loscos, R&D Manager of IDP Group and President of Building Digital Twin Association, has participated in the edition of REBUILD 2022, the biggest innovation event to boost building, held this year from 26th to 27th April in Madrid.

During the session “Metaverse and Digital Twins”, together with experts from the sector, he analysed the Building Digital Twin as the foundation of the Metaverse.

A Digital Twin consists of a digital replica of the asset, be it a building, an infrastructure or even an urban area, with which the user can obtain all its information, such as opening images, obtaining 3D visualisations, zooming in and out and inspecting everything that happens in the asset and even simulating and predicting future situations. And the Digital Twin must be configured on a simple and intuitive interface, allowing the user to interact with it, rotate it and move it around the space with just their hands; as futuristic as it may seem, it is already possible!

And from these digital twins we evolve to the Metaverse, a “figital” space where all the opportunities (and capacity) for interaction and business of the physical world are integrated in a digital environment, bringing together in this environment physical people, businesses, etc., through avatars, cryptocurrencies, blockchain…
