Biofactory (thermal drying and gasification of sludge) at the PTAS La Farfana (Chile)

Project for the implementation of digesters, low-temperature thermal drying lines for urban sludge and energy recovery through advanced synthesis gasification technologies at the La Farfana WWTP in Santiago de Chile (Chile).

  • Water treatment capacity 251.539.970 m3
  • Thermal sludge drying (hourly capacity): 24.10 t/h/line (2 lines)
  • Biogas production by gasification of dry sludge: 6.67 t/h (total in 3 pyrolysers)
  • Biomethane injected into the natural gas grid, via upgrading process: 92.253 MMBTU
  • Cogeneration by syngas in engines at 100% load and 89.5% load: 5.192 MWeh; 4.44 Mweh
  • Syngas combustion: 13.56 MWth
  • Conveying and peripherals for the sludge drying system and for the gasification system
  • Odour treatment system in the thermal sludge drying process
