Enric Blasco took part in the round-table discussion ‘Diverse perspectives on engineering: experience, leadership and the future’ at the IQS School of Engineering

Enric Blasco, founding partner and Chief Executive Officer of the IDP Group, participated on 26 March in the round table “Cross perspectives on engineering: experience, leadership and future”, organised at IQS School of Engineering as part of the fourth commemorative event for the 25th anniversary of Industrial Engineering studies.

The session addressed topics on how industrial engineering is experiencing a period of great momentum, marked by digitalisation, sustainability and the transition towards Industry 4.0 and 5.0. The future of the sector revolves around three main axes: the integration of advanced technology, the strategic use of data and the adoption of sustainable processes. In this context, engineers will need to combine solid technical competencies, such as AI, robotics or cybersecurity, with essential personal skills, such as adaptability, leadership and teamwork. The joint reflection highlighted that the true challenge lies not only in mastering new tools, but in knowing how to integrate them with judgement, maintaining an attitude of continuous learning and leading with a human and collaborative vision to turn innovation into real progress for society.

Alongside Enric Blasco, participants included: Xavier Agustín, Manager of Complete Vehicle Testing and Q-Building at SEAT S.A.; Dr Virginia Espinosa, Senior Lecturer in Electronic Engineering and Coordinator of Industrial Engineering at Tecnocampus; Pere Homs, Managing Director of Enginyers Industrials de Catalunya; Delfí López, Managing Director of Engind; and Pol Morral, Engineering Manager at ILAMCO. The session was moderated by Dr Josep Maria Puigoriol Forcada, senior lecturer and researcher at the Industrial Product Engineering Group (GEPI), and featured a welcome address by Dr Jordi Díaz, Dean of the IQS School of Engineering.

At the IDP Group – A Bureau Veritas Company, we value spaces such as this round table, which enable the sharing of visions and contribute to the debate on the challenges that will define the future of industrial engineering. This type of gathering reinforces the importance of driving talent, innovation and collaboration between university and industry. Our commitment is to support this evolution with solutions that integrate technology, sustainability and a human perspective, contributing to building an industry prepared to successfully meet the challenges of the coming years.
