IDP awarded contract to manage construction of CESGA new data processing center in Santiago de Compostela
The IDP Group has been awarded the construction management contract for the new Data Processing Center (DPC) of the Galician Supercomputing Technology Center (CESGA). This infrastructure has been declared a strategic public research project by the Regional Government of Galicia and will strengthen Spain’s supercomputing and data storage capacity, with a direct impact on areas such as scientific research, artificial intelligence, and digital transformation.
The new data center will be a state-of-the-art facility designed to house supercomputers, mass storage systems, and quantum computing infrastructures. This project is part of the “RES 2021-2024 Distributed ICTS Strategic Plan,” financed by the Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan with NextGenerationEU funds, and has a budget of over €13 million.
IDP will be responsible for managing and executing the construction work, coordinating health and safety, and providing support to the contract manager, including monitoring the restoration of affected services and supervising corrective measures to mitigate environmental impact.
The building will have a usable area of more than 2,500 m², distributed between the ground floor and first floor. It will also have an outdoor area of more than 2,200 m² for service equipment. All of this will be developed on a 9,178 m² plot located in the A Sionlla Business Park in Santiago de Compostela (Galicia).
With this award, IDP consolidates its position as a leader in the management of critical technological infrastructures, reaffirming its commitment to innovation, sustainability, and the promotion of the R&D&I ecosystem in Spain.
