FGC awards IDP the construction project for the operational centre of the new Camp de Tarragona tramway

IDP has been awarded the construction project of the operational centre of the new Camp de Tarragona tram line of Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC), which will be located in Vila-seca, for an amount of 409,000 euros plus VAT.
FGC is promoting the configuration of a tramway system in Camp de Tarragona, connecting Cambrils and Vila-seca, designed to transform mobility in Catalonia’s second largest metropolitan area. This new network will include 46 km of track, 47 stations, 10 interchanges, 26 trams, as well as a new operations centre. It has a planned investment of 543 million euros.
The operations centre will be an infrastructure of approximately 6,500 m2 distributed over three floors. It will consist of an office building with changing rooms, staff rest rooms and offices, an access control centre, a customer service centre, a service station and a workshop, which will initially have a 5-track yard, as well as an outdoor yard with an additional 3 tracks.
The services contracted to IDP consist of the drafting of the construction project in BIM of the civil works, installations, buildings, track superstructure, catenary and installations of the operational centre, as well as all the complementary actions necessary to allow the maintenance activities of the tram to be carried out. All the services will be carried out using BIM (Building Information Modeling) methodology, which allows the design, planning, organisation and management of the infrastructure information in a parameterised, complete, unique and centralised way throughout its entire life cycle.
IDP has extensive experience in the drafting of infrastructure projects using BIM methodology, both for the public and private sector, ensuring the execution, deadlines, cost and quality in all phases of the construction process.
