IDP finishes the project of the meteorological radar tower in Chapecó (Brazil)

IDP engineering group has finished the development of the basic and executive project of the tower and the necessary infrastructure to install the system of meteorological radar bands, for the monitoring and the prediction of adverse events, installed in Chapecó (SC).

The meteorological radar of the West, located in Chapecó, has been promoted by the Department of Civil Defence of the State of Santa Catarina through the programme Agreement for SC of the Protection Fund of Civil Defence and it has counted with an investment of more of US$ 4.5 million.

The tower, located in a 4.198,87 m2 plot of land, is 15 m high and divided in 5 floors and covers 42 % of Santa Catarina State territory, which includes 138 municipalities, in the corridor with more storms. In addition, his strategic position allows providing the emission of more effective alerts and in time enough for the population not only in Santa Catarina but also in other Brazilian States and neighbouring countries.

The project has been carried out entirely through BIM “Building Information Modelling” technology that allows designing, planning, organising and managing the digital construction of the project and the later works incorporating both 3 physical dimensions and the budgeting dimension, the scheduling dimension, the energy-analysis and sustainability and the integration with Facility Management systems.

IDP is present in Brazil since 2011 with offices in Florianópolis, Rio of Janeiro and Belém, establishing itself as a referent company in the project development through BIM technology.
