IDP is awarded the project for Kronospan’s wood-based panel manufacturing plant in Tortosa (Tarragona)
Kronospan, dedicated to the manufacture and distribution of wood-based panels, has awarded the IDP Group the project and construction management of the new panel manufacturing plant in Tortosa (Tarragona), with an investment of approximately 180 million euros.
Kronospan is one of the leading manufacturers and distributors of wood-based panels, special and decorative papers, as well as other associated value-added products, such as melamine panels, countertops, wall panels, etc. It already has 2 operating plants in Spain and several more in Europe.
The new industrial plant for the manufacture of wood-based panels will be located on a 254.109 m2 plot of land in the Catalunya Sud industrial estate in the municipality of Tortosa (Tarragona) and will have a built-up area of approximately 90.000 m2. The project is framed around the circular economy by giving a second life to waste materials that were left in disuse, with a firm commitment to sustainability.
The IDP Group will provide the technical engineering services to develop the project in fast-track format, the management of the tender for the work and the project management using the BIM methodology (Building Information Modeling), which is essential both in the design and in the overall management of the works and which allows to guarantee and meet the highest requirements in terms of programming and costs, reducing the time and uncertainty of the construction works.
