IDP participates in the technical conference on digitalisation of the built environment organised by AMB and UNE

On Wednesday, February 19th, Eduard Loscos, president of the Building Digital Twin Association and R&D Manager of the IDP Group, participated in the Technical Conference “Digitalization of the built environment: standardization and practical applications of digital twins and BIM-GIS integration“. The event was held at the headquarters of the Barcelona Metropolitan Area (AMB) and brought together leading professionals from the sector to discuss the advances and challenges in the digitalisation of the built environment.

Organised by the Barcelona Metropolitan Area (AMB) and UNE Normalisation Spain, the conference was welcomed by Ramon M. Torra i Xicoy, manager of the AMB, followed by a presentation by Sergio Muñoz, president of the CTN-UNE 332 and managing director of buildingSMART Spain.

The agenda of the event was structured in two thematic blocks. In the first, dedicated to Digital Twins, Eduard Loscos presented the “European Standards for Digital Twins in the Built Environment“. As coordinator of CEN/TC 442/WG9, president of CTN-UNE 332/SC1, he shared his experience in the development of key European standards for the implementation of digital twins. Other speakers addressed topics such as digital twins in railway infrastructure, the maintenance of digital assets and the integration of digital twin standards into the engineering training path. The second block, focused on the relevance of BIM-GIS integration, included a presentation on GEOBIM standards, the integration of official cartographic databases on a large scale and a success story such as the BIM ecosystem in Sant Feliu de Llobregat.

The day concluded with a round of questions moderated by Arturo Alarcón, secretary of the CTN-UNE 332. This event reaffirms the sector’s commitment to technological innovation and standardization as fundamental pillars for the sustainable and efficient development of the built environment.
