Hermes, aims to optimise the design for the manufacture of a new freight train wagon that will also use new materials and coatings to increase the load factor and will also be equipped with monitoring systems.

IDP leads the design of intelligent railway facilities, in order to improve and increase the efficiency of loading and unloading operations, maintenance processes and online communication with the wagon, all using BIM methodology and software.

The Hermes research and development project is funded by the EU under the Mobility for Growth “Smart Rail” call (MG2.2) of the new Horizon 2020 programme.
