IDP participates in the HYCOOL innovation project for industrial refrigeration
IDP participates in the HYCOOL innovation project “Industrial cooling through a hybrid system based on extreme heat”, funded by the EU in an innovation action for the call for competitive low-carbon energy, within the framework of the Horizon 2020 (H2020) framework programme, which has as its main objective to increase the current use of solar heat in industrial processes.
The project proposes the coupling of a new Fresnel CSP solar thermal collector (FSCP) with specially constructed hybrid heat pumps (HHPs) (a “two-in-one” combination of adsorption heat pumps and compressor-based heat pumps).
The main features of the HyCool system are flexibility and efficiency, which will allow different strategies for a technically and economically viable system.
The optimal balance between the flexibility and efficiency of the HyCool system is divided into two phases, the Capital Expenditure phase, simplicity will be oriented to the search for ease in the optimization of the design configuration, modular construction and ITS for commissioning, and the operational expenses phase will be oriented to maximize the profitability of HyCool in each individual case.
The project will be implemented over a period of 36 months and is made up of a consortium of 15 high-level companies and institutions from Spain, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Turkey.
