IDP participates in the master class on BIM projects in the field of civil engineering

Eduard Loscos, R&D Manager of IDP Group has participated in the master class focused on BIM projects in the field of civil engineering organised by Zigurat, Online Higher School in the field of engineering and architecture with over 15 years of experience.

The webinar was also attended by Agusti Jardí, Founding Partner of APOGEA Virtual Building Solutions and Ignasi Pérez Arnal, founder of BIM Academy Spain.

BIM is a work methodology, based on specialized software for the production and management of projects, which allows designing, planning, organising and managing the construction works’ execution, integrating all the information in a 3D model (surroundings, buildings, structures, installations, Schedule, costs, etc.).

BIM methodology has significantly changed the concept of planning and managing a project. It is a leap in the evolution towards the excellence and the technification of the constructive process, comparable to the leap that was produced with CAD systems (computer aided design) in comparison with the manual way of pencil drawing.

IDP has presented several projects and civil engineering works carried out in BIM (Building Information Modelling) as well as the procedures used in some of these projects and the latest applications developed by the R & D team.

During the presentation of the projects, we have been able to know the state of implementation of BIM methodology in different European countries such as the United Kingdom, where it is estimated that it allows saving around 20% of the costs and has been compulsory for many years, as well as the current demand in the professional market and public investment forecasts in different Spanish-speaking countries foreseen in the short and medium term.
