IDP participates in the UNE digitalization committee leading the Digital Twins group for building and civil works

IDP actively participates in the UNE Committee for the Digitalization of Information for Building and Civil Works CTN-UNE 332. The committee aims to develop standards related to BIM information models and Digital Twins in the field of construction. This involves considering aspects such as formats, semantics, processes, and functions associated with these technologies, all to improve efficiency and interoperability in the construction sector.

The digitization of information on construction products and processes is essential to be able to evaluate the performance, quality and environmental aspects of constructed assets such as buildings and infrastructure. In this sense, the activity of CTN-UNE 332 plays a key role in facilitating the management of information related to circularity and other environmental impacts in the value chain of the construction industry.

The Committee is structured into two main subcommittees: SC 1, focused on Digital Twins in the Built Environment, and SC 2, focused on the Exchange of Information between BIM and GIS.

Eduard Loscos, President of the Building Digital Twins Association (BDTA) and R&D Manager of the IDP Group, holds the position of President of SC 1. This subcommittee, which deals with digital twins in the built environment, is actively working on the follow-up to CEN/TC 442/WG 9. It has recently completed the drafting of a technical report on digital twin use cases in Europe, which will be put to a vote in the coming weeks. In addition, a project has been launched to establish a European standard defining concepts and definitions for digital twins.
