IDP presents the urban mobility plan of the Foz do Rio Itajaí metropolitan area in Brazil

Carlos Olsen, General Manager in Brazil of the IDP Group, has presented the urban mobility plan of the Foz do Rio Itajaí metropolitan area, within the strategic framework of InovAmfri, during the last meeting with the Governor of the State of Santa Catarina Mr. Raimundo Colombo.

InovAmfri is a project of strategy regional that plans the development economic and social for the next years and has with the participation of the Government of the State of Santa Catarina, the Association of municipalities of Foz do River Itajaí (AMFRI) and with the support of entities as FIESC, SEBRAE and UNIVALI.

Urban mobility Plan developed by IDP gives priority to public transport and the participatory management to resolve current and future mobility needs of the population of the region, with the aim of achieving a sustainable urban mobility, ensure social equity, the modal transfer efficiency and environmental sustainability.

The Foz do Rio Itajaí Metropolitan Area is formed by 10 municipalities of the Santa Catarina State, with an approximately extension of 1.500 km2, with more than 600.000 inhabitants and a GDP of about 8 billion euros, being the urban mobility one of the priority subjects of the local authorities because of its large impact on the inhabitant’s life quality, and this project has a big importance for the economic and social development at one of the main development areas of the Santa Catarina State.
