IDP receives the 2023 Infrastructure of the Year award for the Kronospan Plant in Tortosa (Tarragona)

IDP has been awarded the Albert Vilalta Infrastructure of the Year 2023 award, awarded by the Consell Assessor d’Infraestructures de Catalunya, for the drafting of the project and construction management of the industrial plant for the manufacture of wood panels of the Austrian multinational Kronospan in Tortosa (Tarragona).

On June 13, Enric Blasco, CEO of the IDP Group, collected the award as part of the celebration of the 8th Edition of the Nit de les Infraestructures, organized by the Consell Assessor d’Infraestructures de Catalunya in the auditorium of Foment del Treball.  With this last distinction, IDP accumulates its third recognition in the eight editions of this prestigious event.

Kronospan’s industrial wood panel manufacturing plant in Tortosa is the largest industrial project to be developed in Catalonia during 2022, with more than 350 million euros of investment and more than 100,000 m2 of built area, and has had the institutional support of the Generalitat de Catalunya as a strategic project.

In this eighth edition of the Nit de les Infraestructures, and as a prelude to the awards ceremony, Isabel Pardo de Vera gave the presentation entitled: “Rails that connect times, history and future“.

The Infrastructure of the Year 2023 award has recognized the different actors who have participated in the action:

  • Promoter Award: Kronospan Tortosa SL
  • Designer Award: IDP Ingeniería y Arquitectura Iberia, SLU
  • Construction Management Award: IDP Ingeniería y Arquitectura Iberia, SLU
  • Builder Award: Carbonell Figueras, SA and others

The event was attended by Josep Sánchez Llibre, president of Foment del Treball; Joaquim Llansó, president of the Advisory Council of Infrastructures of Catalonia; Josep Rull, president of the Parliament of Catalonia; José Antonio Santano, Secretary of State for Transport and Sustainable Mobility of the Ministry; Ester Capella, Minister of the Department of Territory of the Generalitat of Catalonia; and Laia Bonet, First Deputy Mayor for Ecology, Urban Planning, Infrastructure, Mobility, Public Space and Housing of the Barcelona City Council.
