Día Mundial de la Arquitectura 2025: Diseño para la Fortaleza

Every first Monday in October we celebrate World Architecture Day, a date promoted by the International Union of Architects (UIA) since 1985, with the aim of highlighting the role of architecture in improving quality of life and sustainable development. This day coincides with World Habitat Day, promoted by the United Nations, reinforcing the link between the design of the built environment and major global challenges such as climate change, rapid urbanization, and social equity.
In 2025, the slogan chosen by the UIA is “Design for Strength”, a call to action for architects, urban planners, and all actors in the built environment to work on solutions that strengthen our cities and communities in the face of crises and adversity.
This year’s theme challenges us directly: How can we design spaces that not only stand the test of time, but also withstand the adversities of the present and the future? At IDP, we are committed to sustainable innovation, the integration of smart technologies, and interdisciplinary collaboration to create safe, adaptable, and regenerative environments.
Architecture is not just about aesthetics or functionality; it is also about social and environmental responsibility. Designing for strength means thinking about sustainable materials, energy efficiency, and solutions that respond to the real needs of people and the planet.
World Habitat Day, promoted by the UN, reminds us that access to decent housing is a fundamental right. Architecture and engineering play a key role in guaranteeing this right by designing more inclusive, resilient, and sustainable cities.
At the IDP Group, we join in this commemoration by reaffirming our commitment to responsible, resilient design focused on people and the environment. We believe that architecture should be a tool for transformation that not only builds buildings but also strengthens communities, improves quality of life, and contributes to a more sustainable planet.
